  CUSTOMER PROBLEM (Prior To GEI)
  
  Fuel cells are a highly efficient, combustion-less, and virtually pollution free energy source which provide electricity to power a wide array of applications including buildings, electric grids, trucks and automobiles, emergency back-up systems, laptop computers, and numerous other consumer devices. In principle, a fuel cell is an electrochemical device that operates like a battery. However, unlike a battery, a fuel cell requires re-fueling, and not recharging. A fuel cell uses fuel — usually hydrogen extracted from natural gas, propane, or other carbon based fuels, and oxygen extracted from air — to produce electricity. Fuel cells will continue to produce energy in the form of electricity and heat as long as there is a constant fuel source. Hydrogen fuel cells work simply, have no moving parts, and operate silently with water and excess heat as the only by-products.
  
  GEI High Temperature PEM (HTPEM) fuel cells operate at 160-180C. The HTPEM higher operating temperatures allow the use of non-pure hydrogen as a fuel while maintaining the cost and expanding the application flexibility benefits of low temperature PEM fuel cells.
  
  The specific benefits include:
  
  1) More efficient use of thermal energy or by-product heat used in a combined heat and power application resulting in high system efficiencies;
  
  2) Reduction of balance-of-plant (BOP) components for cooling, water management and purification resulting in reduced maintenance and simpler operations and controls;
  
  3) When using reformed fuels rather than pure hydrogen, the result is increased tolerance to carbon monoxide (by a factor of 300) which can poison LTPEM systems. The ability to use non-pure hydrogen reduces the equipment and capital cost necessary to remove fuel impurities.
  
  The resulting triad of benefits listed above result in a simpler yet compact and robust design which requires no humidification with high fuel flexibility and lower cost, yielding significant competitive advantages for commercial HTPEM fuel cell power systems. When HTPEM's are integrated with fuel reforming technologies, the combined heat and power fuel processing system is very efficient, with a high power/weight ratio, and represents the optimum technology for on-board reforming of military JP8 diesel,synthetic fuels, and locally available infrastructure fuels. The GEI HTPEM power generation and fuel reforming technology represents the optimum balance between the cost and availability of low temperature PEM fuel cells, and the high temperature fuel impurity tolerance of much higher temperature (800C+) fuel cells.
  
  The result is a game changing power technology which out-performs solar, wind, geothermal, hydro-electric, coal, and other power solutions from a cost and an efficiency standpoint while also being able to enhance the performance of these power solutions.

  Un pigmento híbrido es una mezcla controlada entre material orgánico e inorgánico. Como material inorgánico podría ser utilizado varios tipos de arcillas por sus propiedades nanoscópicas y, como material orgánico, colorantes naturales o sintéticos (thermochrome, eletrochrome, luminiscencia, etc.)
  
  El grupo de investigación ha desarrollado un nuevo método para producir pigmentos híbridos nanoestructurados con propiedades ópticas y coloidales específicas de acuerdo a los parámetros de producción. Principalmente, la customizaton del comportamiento de estos materiales se consigue mediante el control del ratio material orgánico / inorgánico.

  This method has two stages:
  
  1) Dispersion of, at least, an inorganic material in water.
  2) Addition of, at least, an organic coloring solubilized by agitation.
  
  The following parameters might be changed in order to obtain different kinds of nanopigments:
  
  • Inorganic material concentration.
  • Organic coloring concentration.
  • pH.
  • Temperature.
  • Ionic strength.
  
  The optical response of nanopigments changes as a function of the particle size of the inorganic material (or materials) used by the diffusion.
  
  This method makes it possible to produce new hybrid nanopigments with optical and colloidal properties for tailored applications. Mainly, the customizaton of the behaviour of this materials is achieved by controlling organic/inorganic ratio in the material.
  
  The morphology of the material is hybrid (laminar/fibrillar). The organic coloring is selected among different types: azoic complexes, metallic, sulphurose, iminoquinone, antraquinone, ftalocianine, etc. In general words, they can be both natural or synthetic.
  
  Products can be used in printing inks, painting and dyes, paper, synthetic or natural fibers, polymer materials, cosmetics, etc.
  
  With this method the following features can be achieved:
  
  Color range control: Through the control over the different spectral species, the optical response is modified too, so the color range can be enlarged.
  
  Increase in the colouring power: The ability of the material for increasing the absorption on the surface is linked to three parameters. First, absorption coefficient of the nanopigment in relation to the coloring solution coefficient. Second, light dispersion caused by nanoparticles and addtiional coverage of the surface to fill. Third, reology and fisico-chemical properties of the material are able to obtain homogeneous dispersions.
  
  Environmental impact reduction: Some of the usual pigments contain heavy metals in its composition while inorganic solids used in this method are free of heavy metals and can even be used in cosmetics.   In its current state of development, the molecular thermometer qualitatively exceeds current performances in accuracy, space resolution, reliability and ease of use. The molecule, however, and the host matrix, accept modifications that can further extend thermometric properties and commercial uses, e.g., maximum temperature sensitivity can be tuned to specific temperature ranges and wavelength emission can be moved towards ad hoc ranges for specific applications, like near infrared range where biological tissues have minimum absorption.   El grupo de investigación de Sistemas de Potencia Electrónica (GSEP) de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid ha desarrollado un nuevo tipo de conector con conexión impedancia muy baja, lo cual es aplicable en las pruebas de medición de impedancia de superficie de transferencia de cables apantallados. Estas pruebas son especialmente necesarias cuando los requisitos técnicos son altos, tales como la industria aeronáutica.
  
  El conector tiene dos ventajas principales sobre los conectores convencionales, reduce significativamente el tiempo necesario para preparar la configuración de medición y es adaptable a una amplia gama de diámetros sin distorsionar el blindaje del cable blindado.

  To date, most IDSs have approached ID from a classification standpoint. MOVICAB-IDS proposes visualisation techniques for ID and network monitoring. It is worth emphasizing that the proposal entails the visualisation of network traffic data for detecting intrusions (that is, visualisation for ID) and not the visualisation of IDS alerts or logs (that is visualisation of ID) as others have done.
  
  Visualisation tools can contribute to the security tasks in the following way:
  
  •Visualisation tools may be understood intuitively (even for inexperienced staff) and require reduced configuration time.
  
  •Providing an intuitive visualisation of network traffic lets inexperienced security staff know how normal traffic behaves, which is a key issue in ID. The monitoring task (usually the least dependent on the expertise of the analysts) can be then assigned to less experienced security staff. Thus, workloads will be reduced for senior staff while expertise will be fostered in less-experienced employees.
  
  •Visualizations that depict patterns in massive amounts of data, and methods for interacting with those visualizations can help analysts prepare for unforeseen events".
  
  •They can work in unison with some other tools for ID in a complementary way.

  Our partner, a Hungarian SME is involved in the research and development of intelligent energy management systems, as well as of the intelligent and implantable human diagnostic and therapeutic applications based on such systems. They developed such a power management system called ® which can be used in medical applications. They are looking for a license agreement.
  
  In our days, active implanted devices are becoming increasingly and more and more widely used in therapeutics. In addition to the most frequently used pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators, drug delivery devices, neuro-stimulators, retina implants, hearing aids, incontinence management devices, bone growth stimulators and other devices are applied in order to extend the patients’ lifetimes and improve their life conditions. In light of the ongoing rapid development of electronics and medicine, the number of such implanted devices can be expected to grow even further. As the implantation of such active devices is both costly and risky and, in case of certain applications, their uninterrupted operation is essential, electricity necessary for their operation must be supplied on the long run and in a reliable manner.
  
  Innovation of the product:
  
  The elements of the product family ® are systems that may be battery-fed, accumulator-fed, based on the principle of capacitive storage or operating with hybrid supply (the joint application of various energy supply and/or energy storage technologies), as the given applications may require. Our partner has also established product classes in order to implement the effective energy management of devices with differing levels of energy demand. These product classes constitute complex system technologies optimized to the conditions required by the devices/implants to be supplied both in structure and technological makeup.   They provide the opportunity for effective, intelligent and wireless non-invasive power supply and recharging, thus increasing the intelligence/calculation capacity of the implants while maintaining their lifetime. All of these services are coupled with the very favorable condition that the application of the technology does not require any surgical or even ambulant intervention, as patients may recharge the systems at home on their own as well.
  
  They realize effective storage protection for the energy storage systems (accumulator, battery, capacity and hybrid) applied.
